Nimoy Burrowes
Jamaican software developer and data infrastructure lead. Over a decade shipping backend systems, mobile apps, chatbots, and edtech across finance, media and creator tools.
I grew up in Wakefield, St Catherine and did my Computer Science degree at the University of the West Indies. Since 2013 I have worked across backend engineering, edtech, chatbots, DJ tech, and now data infrastructure. Different domains, but the job is always the same: figure out what needs building, and build it.
What I do
Data infrastructure
Warehousing, ETL, reporting pipelines and internal tooling. Currently leading data infrastructure at one of Jamaica's largest financial services groups.
Backend engineering
Node.js, Postgres, AWS. Queue-based systems, background jobs, integrations, webhooks, and APIs that hold up under real workloads.
Automation and reminders
Multi-channel notification systems. EchoCue sends scheduled SMS, email and WhatsApp reminders using devices you already own.
Mobile and web apps
Full-stack. Ten years of shipping consumer and internal apps across education, media, finance, and creator tooling.
Chatbots
Built one of Jamaica's first widely-used web chatbots at Panmedia Limited. Conversational systems that solve support and lead-gen problems.
Creator tools
Software for DJs and creators. Serato integrations, real-time now-playing, and automation for social workflows.

Jamaica Gleaner feature
Profiled as "PEP problem solver" for the PEP Tutor app, which helped Jamaican students prepare for the Primary Exit Profile exams.

Guest appearance during university, discussing tech and student media projects.
